Description

The small feline waited in the cage that would release him into the coliseum. What he didn't know was he was about to have the deadliest battle of his entire life. His tail flicked and he growled with excitement. His tail lashed now as he waited, becoming inpatient. When the gate opened he walked out with swagger, tail lifted into a curl.

When his opponent emerged his tail immediately went to the ground. A leopard against a sand-cat hybrid!? What were the people running the coliseum thinking? There's no way he'd survive, he'd just have to stall for time until the got bored he guessed.

Pacino took a gulp and started to circle the other feline, prepared for his first and final appearance in the coliseums. His tail lashed and he put on a enraged face. He would have to wait for the leopard to charge or go for him first before making a move.

The jaguar padded past the crowds of humans gathering into their seats, awaiting to see the shows of blood and death the coliseum brought. He knew it first paw at how deadly the battles could be while all hunters had at least one battle in their life he had them regularly on top of his status of a hunter.

Only today he wasn't participating in today's fight. Looking over the ledge from his seat he at the arena that would soon be caked in blood he spotted a leopard. It's eyes blazed with ferocity most of their kind did, it pace through it's edge of battle field awaiting it's opponent.

He could barely even see the small cat, his fur blending with the sand, he swaggered from the cage only to nearly stop dead in his tracks when he saw the relatively small yet deadly beast.

Were the humans insane? The apprentice wouldn't last a minute Mihail thought.

Pacino hissed. "What are you a coward? Too afraid you'll hurt a poor little kitty like me?" He shouted at the leopard. Not his best idea but how else was he going to get the bigger feline to charge him. He most definitely wasn't going to be going in head first on this one. His tail lashed as his continued to circle the larger feline.

His ears pinned back when he realized the difference in height. He could get right under the bigger feline's belly, an advantage and disadvantage. He looked up only to realize the leopard was a few feet away.

The sandcat hybrid dashed out of the way, bounding to the side. He let out a quiet huff of breath as he hit the sand and rolled to the side.  Springing back up he tried to go in for a fake advance. He very well could be crushed that way, but it was worth trying at least. Darting forward he swatted his paw just close enough to send a wave of air on the leopard. He immediately turned tail to got the other way.

He had to be insane.

His ferocious opponent roared, it's quick reflexes and strong muscles allowing it to speed up to Paccino and jump in front of him.

It's heavy paw swiped the small sand cat hybrid's paws from under him sending him across the arena.

This wasn't a fair fight, Mihail grid his teeth, they were simply using the sand cat as bait for the leopard. He wasn't surprised, the humans were barbaric as bears, no bears weren't even as bad.

Pacino rolled in the sand and skidded. He stood and hissed once more. He'd have to be quick next time, his tail lashing he waited for the leopard to charge again.

He had no clue or plan on beating the leopard, he was obviously just being used as a meatbag. Like a dog on death row, he was bound to have his guts scattered across the sand by the end of this battle. He wanted to accept it but he couldn't. Pacino paced, continuing to wait for the leopard to make a move.

The leopard charged like it was burst from a canon, fangs bared and claws unsheathed. It grabbed Paccino by the scruff of his neck and shook him like he was chew toy. It flung the apprentice from his jaws with force against the ground.

Mihail could see the leopard was enjoying it, prolonging the small cat's demise, he was playing with prey. The hunter tensed, narrowing his eyes, he was used to bloody battles, but this was just unfair. But life wasn't fair was it?

The crowds thunderous roars blared in his ears.

Pacino once again shakily got to his feet. Why was the leopard not killing him on the spot? What was so fun about prolonging someone's death? He didn't know but he almost wanted to lay down and accept defeat.

Pacino gave a loud growl and lunged for the larger feline, he was probably only going to be sent flying back though. Landing on the larger, he bit into the nearest piece of flesh possible, which happened to be the bridge of the larger cat's nose.

The larger feline reared back it's paw ripping the small cat of it's muzzle, releasing a yowl and shaking it's head recovering from the fangs digging into it's skin.

Baring it's fangs jumped on top of the small cat, shoving it's paw into his throat. A sadistic ear to ear grin on it's face as it slowly brought down more pressure.

Mihail knew what the leopard was doing. The spotted cat would slowly suffocate the sand cat hybrid with it's paw. The jaguar's claws gripped the ground a sigh coming through his nostrils he made up his mind.

Pacino struggled at first, but eventually stopped moving almost all together. He couldn't win this battle, that was a fact. He was ready to face his demise.

So much for not participating today, Mihail jumped over the ledge into the arena. Now up closer he recognized the smaller cat from the patrol he was in when he captured Mulligan.

The juggernaut swung his large paw into the back of the leopard's head, surprising the smaller spotted feline. It's already injured muzzle slamming against the ground causing blood to splutter out of his nostrils from impact.

Also releasing pressure on Pacino's throat.

Pacino felt sudden pressure release from his throat. Without thinking he rolled out of the way. When he saw who the leopard's attacker was his eyes widened in surprise. "Mihail!?" He shouted in shock.

That was the cat who had led the patrol, capturing that male lion who had been unsuspecting of their presence. Now that the leopard was distracted, Pacino jumped onto it's back and began to mangle it's ears. He bit and clawed place where he could reach.

The leopard began to attempt to snort the blood from his nose, but once again he was caught off guard when the smaller cat jumped onto his head. Letting out a loud snarl the spotted cat flung his head forward to get the smaller cat to loose grip.

When the crowd took notice of Mihail's presence in the ring, they erupted with roars of excitement of the juggernaut entering the arena.

Taking advantage of the once again distracted leopard the jaguar grappled onto the leopard's shoulder's sinking his fangs in the side of his neck.

Pacino clung like a tick on a dog when the larger cat started to shake. When Mihail bit down on the leopard's neck he jumped away, rolling onto the sand. He figured he'd have some kind of sprain, but of all places his ankle had to be the place. He stood a bit and hissed at the leopard.

The leopard struggled under his grasp, the leopard was able to twist his leg upwards and with and thrusted it at Mihail's eye.

Seeing the oncoming impact Mihail swiftly released the wiry leopard's neck, the claws nicking him above his eye on his forehead.

Taking it's chances, the leopard whizzed past the juggernaut making a bypass towards Paccino. It's jaws open for the attack, it lunged forward his jaws encased around Paccino's paw.

Mihail swiftly shook himself off, ignoring the warm, sticky blood that dribbled from his brow, he lept mid air to land onto the leopard's back.

Pacino's eyes dilated in fear, his tail fluffing up and hackles standing on end. His ears laid back and he was ready to limp away if needed. He raised his paw to his face, ready for impact until Mihail jumped at the leopard.

The two violently tumbled on the ground, claws and fangs flying.

Just as quick as they made contacted they separated, each releasing their own roars at one another. The leopard prowling looking for an opening and Mihail stood over the much smaller sand cat, daring the leopard to make a move.

Pacino's ears laid back and his claws dug into the sand. He was terrified.

It started as a rumble in the jaguar's throat that turned into a deafening roar, his claws dug into the sand and his turquoise eyes locked with gold.

The leopard stared back and the two cats eyes stayed connected for what felt like hours, in reality it was a few seconds at most. In defeat the leopard's shoulder's slumped, it's body dropping down submissively.

Mihail spat where the leopard stood, it seemed the leopard didn't think crossing the jaguar was worth it as it loomed near it's side arena, waving his white flag in defeat.

Pacino stood just a bit, breathing deeply. His tail flicked gently. Looking up at Mihail, he gave a smile of gratitude. "Thank you for saving me Mihail." He said, dipping his head. He guessed that now he had a friend.
